Patricia Wright has devoted most of her professional life as a scientist working in Madagascar. She created a national park in Madagascar called Ranomafana National Park in 1991. The park is 106,000 acres. Earlier this decade Patricia, other scientist, and local activist slowed down the deforestation in Madagascar. Roughly 90% of the island forests have been stripped. Patricia had some effect on the Rajoelina government. They banned logging the precious hard woods but some illegal logging still goes on.
